What is the Doghouse?
The Doghouse is the brain child of the 212 Cafe & Bar's - J.Cub and Stu.
The Doghouse is a place where good food, music and drink come together in a friendly and relaxed environment. The brainchild of long time local characters J.Cub and Stu, the getaway takes its name from the fact the owners spend so much time together they are often in the doghouse with their other halves.
Boasting a quality selection of good, honest and simple food, with interesting beers, wines and spirits, The Doghouse is a place to kick back to the sounds of local resident DJs. It also houses Paula’s Record Store, which is named after the previous owner’s hair salon. Her original sign still hangs in the bar, while the store is a place to dig through a carefully curated selection of vinyl old and new.
The Doghouse is also an art space, the location for a weekly live broadcast on KMAH Radio with secret special guests and a meeting place for friends old and new to enjoy good food, good drink and good times. Once you pop in, you won’t want to leave….
The NicetraxUK label welcomes another three artists to get involved for the Soulfuricacid EP, bringing a range of straight up house gear to the table for the funkiest spinners to get busy with. Leeds based producer J Cub follows up appearances on Eclectic Avenue and Saints & Sonnets with the woozy, trumpet soaked grooves of “Mestizo”. UK cheeky house mainstay Lil Mark steps up with another quintessential shuffler in the form of “Small Syndrome”, and then Moodymanc adopts his Dubble D alias for a smooth cruising trip through plush synths and warm bass.
